September 18/07 – Sometimes it’s worth reading an article just for the entertaining comments by anonymous crazies. Like with this piece about Rudy Giuliani, for example (scroll down to the bottom for a good laugh).
Damn, I love this guy.
On a personal level, I’ve always related to Rudy, being someone people on both the right AND the left love to hate at times, because we refuse to subscribe to our party’s full meal deal of policies and views. And then there are the personal attacks. But as Margaret Thatcher said, “I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left.”
Giuliani: A man thoroughly secure in his masculinity
I don’t think I’ve made any secret of the fact that I’m a Giuliani girl. I’ve met the man, know his policies and his people, and don’t think there’s anyone even remotely as qualified for the US presidency. As mayor of New York, he also inspired another world leader — then French interior minister, Nicolas Sarkozy, who has since taken over as French president and is laying down the law for Iran’s Ahmadinejad.
There are two types of people who hate Rudy: thugs/vagrants and liberals (of both the far-left and elite variety). But he’s the one GOP candidate with crossover appeal — think Shania Twain topping the charts by straddling country and pop. He appeals to that large majority of voters in the mushy middle, so really, if he can nail the support of the hard-right GOP base in the primaries, he’s home free. His move to focus exclusively on talk-radio advertising in a bid to appeal to that conservative base is dead-on strategy wise.
Besides, while Obama denounced this video below as homewrecking, I bet Giuliani would at least recognize it for what it is — harmless fun. I mean, learn how to pick and choose your battles, for crying out loud. (Warning: This song is insanely addictive. So much so that I have it on my iPod, which you can do here. And I love the part where Giuliani girl tackles the guy littering on the streets of NYC).
