November 22, 2007 – Hey, he never mentioned how Thanksgiving is about the indians being screwed over.

Turkey (Muslim country) = Turkey (Thanksgiving bird) = War on Terror reference in here somewhere = Go Rudy, go!

Maybe that’s because we hear every other day of the year about how “minorities” get the shaft.  (I use quotes because, as a conservative, in some parts of the USA — like in NYC, LA, and Medialand — I am actually the minority, but apparently that never counts.)  Can we not give it a rest and use our Western cultural and traditional holidays to celebrate our cultural commonality, that being the AMERICAN one?

I’m guessing not.  Because what’s the fun in that, right?

 Oh well.  Here’s Rudy’s email:

Dear Friend,

Thanksgiving began as a simple celebration of life and an appreciation of the blessings of freedom. Our Pilgrim forefathers on that rocky Eastern shore were joyful they had finally achieved a foothold in the New World. They celebrated their arrival to this land of open possibilities and their deliverance from religious tyranny. Every subsequent generation of proud Americans have built upon their example of strength and sacrifice.

This Thanksgiving our thoughts are with those who are advancing the cause of freedom by confronting a different kind of religious tyranny in Iraq and Afghanistan. These courageous young men and women will spend Thanksgiving far from home, but they are not far from our prayers. They remind us that the strength of this generation is equal to generations past. America remains the land of the free because we are the home of the brave. And that is always reason to give thanks.

Judith and I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Rudy Giuliani :p

P.S. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, please consider volunteering or donating to an organization of your choice.

(NOTE:  I added the :p and the xox’s.  I thought it would be a nice touch.)
